Are you a Broker"? What is AST?
I have never worked for a Bird Exposition...nor to I approve for our
birds to
be in bird swaps or flea markets for any reason.

That to bad.....that you feel most do this out of 'bragging or trying
to
impress you'
I've understood all who have done this to validate
their 'accomplishments'
their 'experience' and to reassure others of their experiences.
I marvel of those who have been in this long enough to have something
to
'add' to their signatures.
Have you got any clue to the days, nights and years that it takes to
get any
of these signature designations? Babies fed, nights awaken? I've
not
touched the beginning of what is in just one signature of Joyce's.
I haven't taken offense to the valuable information she has given at
all..and
with her accomplishment even though they maybe a direct ninety degree
different then mine.
I say we've had some very good information here and if you missed it
to focus
on what you just wrote that is to sad for me to understand.
but then your not a Breeder of birds and you don't like to
handfeed...so,

I implore ALL to BLOW YOUR HORNS. BRAG OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
regarding
Aviculture, your practice in breeding, your accomplishments in your
aviaries,
zoos or what ever else you may have done regarding Aviculture.
Brag of your sales of your weaned babies, talk about how you did
it..BRAG,
BRAG AND BRAG MORE AND MORE.
I welcome in a good legit message regarding Bird Breeding from ANY
Aviculturist and I love their differences in our management of our
Aviaries.
Aviculturist had better get refocused for our birds sake.

Very true. Not only not to mix small with large birds, not to mix

species.

Happy Holidays to you Carole. I hope your Bronchitis will go away.
Be sure
to check your humidity inside your house with the heat on...if it
goes below
35 rh, this can cause irritation to those who have weaker lungs.
Enjoy your New Year Day within your home, the most secure place to be
at this
time of the year is my opinion.

Hello Robyn,
Congrats on your pair of Umbrellas for I started out with about the
same kind
of birds you have now. I had two small tiny baby Congo Greys with
two Pet
Umbrellas and many tiels and keets as well one pair of Amazons,
Orange Wings.
I suggest to get the 'Psittacine Avicultural" Aviary Book by
Schubot, Club
at ABRC in Loxahatchee, FL. This book is a book I usually buy for my
clients
who have bought a breeding pair from me or a family member who has
birds for
breeding.
Another is be well prepared for aggression from your male to your
female so
it is very important you have a large cage so she can get away from
him.
Also a double hole nest box so again she'll not get pinned in the
nestbox by
her mate. If, you pay any attention to either of them, the male can
become
very agitated and go after her either to 'eliminate her' so he can
have you
or 'protect her from you' by killing her.
I think it a great idea to not get close, talk or show eye glance
with either
of them. Learn all you can in that book and you'll be on the road to
Aviculture as an Aviculturist with knowledge under your belt about
these
birds.
Please note this book is dated years earlier and some parts are not
updated
so you'll need to check out ongoing what is new today however, you'll
learn
of aviary habitat, diets, personalities and other items of interest
regarding
husbandry, incubation and feeding babies with weights/amounts to feed
babies.
I started out with keets and tiels to incubate and hatch so i would
have
every thing I needed to Umbrellas. My first Umbrella babies are
alive to day
11 years later.
I came back to aviculture when the science of Aviculture has made
many turns
regarding Avian Medicine, Husbandry and Aviculture...so please do not
take my
word, books or the net your total advice..always listen to yourself
and when
your in doubt, check it out..your birds are your birds, not our bird
or even
the vets birds...do not count on anyone else other then the voice
within you
of which your birds will communicate to tell you their needs.
Happy New Year and many, many babies hatched in your aviary healthy
and
alive..
